About Austin
Pictures say a thousand words, and this one is probably no exception (except that I usually wear a helmet when I climb).
Originally from Portland, OR, I’ve ALWAYS had a strong draw toward adventure, and usually do anything I can to get my friends and family involved.
In the era where many of us live anxious social lives through our phones, I’m fascinated by the soul-warming effect of a great adventure. So effortlessly, it yanks us off of our lonely digital islands and brings us together as a purposeful tribe of explorers. The combination of natural beauty, sheer challenge and high thrill inherently emboldens a group of adventure seekers to bond together and use their unique strengths to achieve a goal worth celebrating.
It’s a formula as old as our species itself—improve ourselves by building our team, improve our team by building ourselves. Through a lifetime of adventure, I’ve seen the outdoors enable people to discover brilliant traits they didn’t they had and bring the best out of themselves and each other.
In that spirit, these adventures have become much more than just a fun weekend hobby, and more of a philosophical framework, a microcosm for life’s greater meaning, and a formula for self-improvement.
Also I like dogs.
……and whiskey. :)
